Residential building
Cumbaya, Ecuador
In order for Cumbayá to have a project designed strictly under the parameters of feng shui, the Surya building was designed to enhance good energies and comfort in private spaces and communal areas.
Two volumes are designed with three floors each, linked at all levels by a corridor illuminated by windows of different rectangular formats arranged indistinctly.
The front volume, which enjoys unobstructed views, houses 4 apartments of 220 m2; and the rear volume houses 6 apartments of 140 m2. All rooms are open-plan with generous curved windows in the social area and private terraces and gardens.
The program determined two basements to hide the parking lots, a communal terrace with a Zen garden, and a space to practice yoga with the first rays of the equatorial sun.
The entrance, covered by a canopy, shares space with the guardhouse and is dressed with a sheet of water that rests carved in the form of an artificial lagoon, providing freshness throughout the year and a unique spatial sensation by reflecting the sky.
An air, water and light building.
