Multipurpose building
Bolivar, Ecuador
In support of the indigenous community of Simiatug, located at an altitude of 3,200 meters above sea level, with difficult climatic conditions and a hard land to work, a 2-story building is planned to receive tourists and train its population in order to improve their quality of life.
The building takes advantage of the benefits of geothermal energy and is projected below the natural ground level, leaving only one façade exposed. A natural light lantern in the form of an eye in the vegetation cover crosses the 2 levels to illuminate the interior and raise the temperature during the day.
A simple volume of hard materials integrated with the environment and as a detail the edges of the slabs of the only facade sheltered with the fabrics worked and sold by the women of the community.
