Educational building
Quito, Ecuador
The challenge is to design while maintaining levels and integrating the existing administration and school buildings architecturally designed by another team.
The steeply sloping terrain is in the form of 2 transverse rectangles at the intersection of which the new secondary school building and the laboratory building are projected.
The school is a 4-story volume that is attached to the southern boundary with two intentions: to free up the maximum area destined for outdoor patio and to achieve direct access to it from the classrooms.
The transversal volume closes the outdoor patio on the first floor. In order not to visually block the sports area, level two is an open covered space that identifies the project in its true dimension.
