Conauto Warehouses 2009

The company Conauto, entrusted the studio with the design of the new stores and renovation of its image in the heart of Quito, "LA Y". The construction was in charge of the company Semaica.

A garden reminiscent of the finish flag of an automobile race welcomes customers and offers them a large outdoor parking space. The entrance to the stores is easily identified by a red volume reminiscent of a moving tire.

The predominant material is exposed concrete, which contrasts with the large windows with sliding aluminum sunbreakers that control the afternoon sun and allow the eye-catching machinery and merchandise inside to be seen.

The work area is located to one side so that the movement of the work inside the workshop, located under a metallic cover that rests on a wall with a circular-shaped perforation that again reminds us of a tire, is an eye-catcher for pedestrians.

The project has solar panels for water heating and to cover part of the lighting; it also collects and stores rainwater so that, after being filtered, it can be used in the bathrooms and in the maintenance of the clients' cars, thus complying with the objective of respecting the environment.
